Makiah Cardinal is an LPC Associate passionate about helping individuals and couples navigate life's challenges, strengthen their relationships, and move toward growth and healing. She earned her Master's degree in Counseling and Human Resource Development from South Dakota State University, where she specialized in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy.

During her clinical experience, Makiah had the opportunity to work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship concerns, and significant life transitions. These experiences shaped her passion for helping clients better understand themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that may be keeping them stuck.

Makiah is particularly passionate about working with young adults, couples, athletes, student-athletes, and high-achieving individuals. She understands that success and achievement can sometimes come with significant pressure and enjoys helping clients explore who they are beyond what they accomplish. She is interested in supporting clients navigating identity, purpose, relationship concerns, life transitions, anxiety, and the unique pressures associated with performance and achievement.

Her approach to counseling is relational, compassionate, and collaborative. Makiah believes meaningful growth happens within safe and supportive relationships and strives to create a space where clients feel seen, understood, and empowered to make changes in their lives. She operates from a Christian worldview integrated with evidence-based therapeutic practices and believes each person's experiences, relationships, values, and beliefs should be thoughtfully considered throughout the counseling process.

Makiah values the opportunity to walk alongside clients as they navigate difficult seasons, strengthen their relationships, and pursue a life aligned with their values, purpose, and the person they hope to become.
